Art Club: WED MARCH 11th 4PM Kate Shaw inspired landscapes
In this 1.5-hour after-school art workshop, children will explore marbling and collage techniques inspired by the work of Kate Shaw, known for her vibrant marbled landscapes and imaginative environments.
Students will begin by creating their own marbled papers using fluid paint techniques, experimenting with swirling colour, pattern, and movement. They will explore how blending and manipulating colour can suggest natural elements such as skies, mountains, water, and forests. Once dry, children will carefully cut, layer, and collage their marbled papers to construct a unique landscape scene, considering foreground, middle ground, and background to create depth and atmosphere.
Throughout the session, children will experiment with contrast, scale, and composition while developing confidence in cutting, arranging, and refining their ideas. The workshop encourages creative risk-taking, visual storytelling, and an appreciation of colour and texture. Activities will be adapted to suit different primary age groups, with an emphasis on exploration, process, and enjoyment. All materials are provided, and children will take home their own marbled collage landscape at the end of the session.
LOCATION: 315 Shell Road, Marcus Hill.
*Please follow the drive way about 100 metres and then turn left at the sign*
The workshop will take place in a very special creative space located on a private property. The studio sits amongst beautiful, established gardens that are part of a thriving, privately run vegetable garden. This unique setting provides a calm and inspiring environment for creativity and learning.
As this is a private property, the gardens themselves are not accessible during the workshop, and we kindly ask all participants to show care and respect for this special place. Children will be supervised at all times within the designated workshop area, and we ask families to support us in maintaining the integrity and privacy of the property.
We are incredibly grateful to be able to use this space and appreciate your understanding in helping us treat it with the respect it deserves.
